A small quantity of Roman pottery was discovered inside Risbury Camp, reportedly in a gravel pit. The official monument description records the year as 1932. The material provides a modest indication that the hillfort interior was used during the Roman period.
A few sherds do not establish continuous occupation, a Roman garrison or a sudden evacuation. They also cannot show that the inhabitants moved to Blackwardine, although that has been suggested locally.
