What this record tells us
The excavation produced findings that suggested that the site remained in use from the late prehistoric (1st millennium BC) into the Roman period. These findings include a substantial near circular (penannular) ditch of possible late Bronze Age or Iron Age date, together with a series of probable late prehistoric and Roman field boundaries, evidence of industrial activity and a very large amount of pottery. Additional research and clarification, 26 September 2026 Excavation found a penannular ditch, field boundaries and a substantial pottery assemblage, indicating activity from later prehistory into the Roman period. Two grain-processing ovens were recorded. The site adds a rural counterpart to the urban and monastic discoveries in Leominster.
