What this record tells us
Shallow excavation to about 0.30 m found 19th- and 20th-century pottery, a stone-capped and stone-lined well, and a multi-phase sandstone party wall associated with former outbuildings. No earlier deposits were reached by the development work.
Additional research and clarification, 26 September 2026 A 1999 watching brief found a stone-lined, capped well, later pottery and a multi-phase sandstone wall. The results record successive use of the plot. The published project grid is SO 495 591.
