LEOMINSTER SO45NE CHOLSTREY 808-1/3/249 Cholstrey Mill 09/07/76 (Formerly Listed as: CHOLSTREY The Mill) GV II Corn mill. C17, C18 and C19. Dressed sandstone, raised in brick; corrugated-iron roof. At right angles to house, with wheel in south bay. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and loft; 2-window range: 2-light mullion window with some leaded lights, in oak case, and C20 altered light in oak case; 2 loft doors. Entrance to right: C20 plank door and stable door, in oak frame; light in heavy oak frame; light with metal bars and later glazing in oak case under brick segmental arch. Outshut to left: weatherboarding over brick on rubble plinth; plank door in oak frame; left returned side displays C18 brickwork with timber-frame and brick to 1st floor; loft opening over 2 openings with oak frames. Corrugated-iron verandah on cast-iron pillars. Rear: brick and rubble; two C19 casements under brick segmental arches; various openings and entrances; C20 concrete block repairs; oak frame-post and wall-plate. INTERIOR: approx 6m diameter wheel with cast-iron rims and oak axle; 3 sets of stones and all cleaning and lifting equipment, in situ; C17(?) timber-framing to south gable; some early timbers to roof; brick partition wall to wheel-pit. Covered leat runs for approx 25m to stream; sluice with cast-iron gate and mechanism on north bank. Possibly originally house, converted to mill C19. Listing NGR: SO4663659699
