LEOMINSTER SO4958 SOUTH STREET 808-1/2/318 (West side) Nos.88, 90 AND 92 GV II 3 houses, originally barn. Mid C17, probably converted and altered late C18 and with later alterations. Timber-framed with colourwashed brick fronts and Welsh slate roofs with brick ridge stacks. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic; 5-window range in all. No.92 to left has 3 6/6 unhorned sashes each floor, the lower under segmental brick arches. Central doorway and 1st floor band. No.90 has 2-light casement over 2-light former shop window and 6-panel door to right, and No.88 has a C20 window each floor with C20 part-glazed door to left. Brick dentilled eaves to all. Rear has late C18 wings to Nos.88 and 90, various extensions and fragment of framing visible to No.92. INTERIOR: the C17 roof trusses are partly visible in the party walls and in the internal divisions of No.92. 4 or perhaps 5 bays originally. Massive tie-beams and also principals and ridge piece, originally with 2 tiers of purlins. Fragments of the purlins survive on rear walls and also may have been re-used when the front was raised late C18. Some square panel framing is visible in party walls and is reported to survive on the right gable wall now covered by the adjoining house (not included). Listing NGR: SO4958158675
