Focus Site, Mill Street: trial pits, geophysical survey and excavation, 2001-03

Excavation at Mill Street found a Romano-British revetment beside a watercourse and substantial evidence for smithing. Later phases included high-status 13th-century buildings, medieval roof tile, a Priory trackway, waterlogged ditches and possible fishery and tanning activity.
